Pummeled by sturgeon and saved by seals, #TEC Fellow Jennifer Hayes (@jenniferhayesig) journeyed on a @natgeo assignment through the #StLawrenceSeaway from the #1000Islands to life in the ice with harp seals. Hayes is a contributing photographer and speaker for #NationalGeographic and also contributed to numerous global publications and authored/contributed to books on marine environments. She is an aquatic biologist and directed her focus to photojournalism specializing in natural history, conservation and the documentation of freshwater and marine environments. Her academic passions lead to graduate degrees in marine ecology and zoology with research focused on shark finning and the population dynamics and movements of an ancient fish - sturgeon. Hayes is a trustee of the @sharkresearchinstitute, editorial board advisor for @oceangeographic and recipient of the President’s medal for contributions to the natural world.
